Karnal police have arrested four men in connection with a gold and cash robbery that occurred on January 3, 2026, recovering a total of 1,240 grams of gold worth nearly Rs2 crore, along with Rs2 lakh in cash and a two-wheeler used in the crime.
The arrested accused have been identified as Prince and Dinesh, both residents of Karnal, and Praveen and Prateek from Ambala Cantt. During a court appearance, Dinesh was sent to judicial custody, while the remaining three were remanded for three days.
Police said the robbery took place when Baban Govind Mani and his brother-in-law, who work in the bullion market melting gold, were attacked near the Community Centre in Sector-16 while returning home after work. Preliminary investigations revealed that Prince and Dinesh, employees at a local jeweller’s shop, conducted the recce, and along with their accomplices, carried out the heist.
DSP Rajiv Kumar confirmed that further recoveries are expected in connection with the case. The operation highlights coordinated planning and insider knowledge used in bullion market crimes.
