Karmen Sauers Arrested After Triangle Lake Gun Threat

Three Eugene residents face charges after late-night dispute

TRIANGLE LAKE, Ore. — A late-night altercation at Triangle Lake Park on Saturday, July 5, led to multiple arrests involving weapons, intoxication, and theft.

According to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, Karmen Marie Sauers, 43, of Eugene, was reported to be menacing bystanders with a pink handgun around 11 p.m. Witnesses at the park contacted authorities, prompting deputies to respond quickly.

Deputies later located Karmen Sauers driving nearby. She showed signs of driving under the influence and was detained. A pink pepper spray pistol and a stolen firearm were recovered from her vehicle.

While deputies investigated, another vehicle associated with Sauers arrived. The driver, Kirby Edward Sauers, 63, also from Eugene, appeared intoxicated and was cited for DUII after being detained.

Further investigation revealed the stolen firearm found in Karmen Sauers’ vehicle belonged to Loren Joseph Imponen, 49, the passenger in the second vehicle. Deputies arrested Imponen for Theft in the 1st Degree.

All three individuals were taken into custody:

Karmen Sauers: Arrested and booked for Menacing, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and DUII.

Kirby Sauers: Cited in lieu of custody for DUII.

Loren Imponen: Arrested and lodged in jail for Theft in the 1st Degree.

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
