MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WDTV) – A woman has been arrested for allegedly embezzling more than $4,000 from a Morgantown business where she worked as an office manager.

According to the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office, Karen Urick, 57, of Maidsville, is accused of stealing $4,068 from Spineworks while employed there.

Authorities launched an investigation in December, uncovering that Urick allegedly:

Took money from the point-of-sale system
Changed the system password

Unplugged a security camera to avoid detection
The business owner reportedly made multiple attempts to contact Urick regarding the missing funds, but she refused to return calls or texts.
