Kanpur Police Arrest Four in Fake Bank Scam

79 Women Duped in Shilpa Fincap Fraud Scheme

Kanpur Police have arrested four individuals accused of defrauding 79 women by establishing a fake bank near Chhatarpur Bamba. The suspects were produced in court and remanded to jail following the arrests. The case was reported by Narendra, a resident of Guraini.

The accused set up a fake bank named Shilpa Fincap Private Limited in Shivrajpur, renting premises to appear legitimate. Jitendra Gautam posed as branch manager, Pradeep Gautam as assistant manager, Uttam Verma as loan officer, and Shailesh Gautam as field officer. They canvassed villages, luring rural women with promises of loans of Rs50,000, claiming they could double the amount. Each victim deposited Rs3,000, totaling approximately Rs2.5 lakh. After collecting the funds, the fraudsters locked the office overnight and fled.

The arrested individuals are:

Jitendra Gautam and Pradeep Gautam from Sindhauli, Sultanpur

Uttam Verma from Peerpur, Sitapur

Shailesh Gautam from Sumranwa

Police recovered around ₹55,000 in cash, along with jewellery, a laptop, a bike, and a biometric machine from the accused.
