Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for the team responsible for the arrests. Investigators traced the suspects’ locations through CCTV surveillance and other tracking methods.
The theft occurred on December 7 at Neeraj Valecha’s mobile shop in Govind Nagar, where CCTV footage from Operation Trinetra captured four youths carrying sacks and leaving the shop in an auto. Police tracked the suspects through Lucknow to Bihar and Nepal. Govind Nagar police station in-charge Rikesh Singh, along with three other teams, conducted searches over 17 days before apprehending the accused in Kanpur.
The suspects have been identified as Mubeen from Motihari, Pramade, Mukesh, and Krishna from Nepal, and Shoeb from Bajriya. One accused, Aslam alias Haddi from Motihari, remains at large.
Police recovered 113 expensive mobile phones from the accused. Commissioner Raghubir Lal stated that the phones are now in police custody and investigators are questioning the suspects to trace any remaining stolen property. “If necessary, we will take them into custody remand to make them confess to whom they sold the phones,” he added.
