The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano has arrested a suspected fraudster, Mu’azu Mohammed Ibrahim, accused of swindling individuals by promising them fake job opportunities within the Kano State government ministries. The arrest was confirmed in a statement released on Wednesday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Abdullahi, on behalf of the State Commandant.

The 32-year-old suspect, a resident of Sagagi Quarters in Kano Municipal LGA, was apprehended after weeks of persistent tracking. Abdullahi stated, “The suspect was arrested after intense efforts to locate him, following numerous complaints from individuals, mostly women, who were duped of more than ₦1.2 million.”

Ibrahim allegedly posed as a high-ranking government official, claiming he could secure employment for his victims in various government ministries, departments, and agencies. However, these promises were revealed to be fraudulent.

The NSCDC spokesperson further noted that the investigation into the matter has been completed, and the suspect is expected to face charges in court soon, brought by the corps’ legal unit.
