Kano Sharia Court Sentences Hashimu Usman to Three Months for Drug Possession

Hashimu Usman gets three months of Qur'an memorization for resisting arrest

A Kano Sharia Court, located in the Kurna Quarters of Dala LGA in Kano State, has sentenced Hashimu Usman to three months of bondage for possession of abused substances and resisting police arrest. Usman, who was caught in possession of marijuana, pleaded guilty to the charges.

In the ruling, Khadi Shamsuddeen Ado Abdullahi Unguwar Gini sentenced Usman to spend three months without the option of a fine, at the Kandahar Juma’at Mosque, where he will be required to memorize two portions of the Glorious Qur’an as part of his punishment.

Furthermore, the court ordered the confiscated marijuana to be destroyed by burning. The sentence is part of the court’s application of Sharia law in addressing the offense.
