Karnataka Police arrested Charith Balappa, a famous Kannada TV serial actor, on charges of sexually harassing and blackmailing a young actress. The arrest followed a complaint lodged by a 29-year-old actress on December 13, detailing incidents that took place between 2023 and 2024.
According to DCP S Girish, the accused had repeatedly harassed the victim, demanding physical intimacy and threatening her with explicit videos if she refused. The actress alleged that Balappa used his power and connections, including ties with politicians and influential people, to pressure and blackmail her. The victim also reported receiving death threats and threats of defamation via social media if she did not comply with his demands.
The police investigation is ongoing, and the actor has been charged with sexual harassment, blackmail, threatening behavior, and extortion.
