Acting on a tip-off, the Cuddalore district police arrested four individuals, including a known ganja peddler from Andhra Pradesh, and seized five kilograms of ganja in Annamalai Nagar, near Chidambaram, on Saturday.
The operation was led by DSP T Augustin Joshua Lamech, under the guidance of SP S Jeyakumar, and supervised by Inspector K Ambedkar. Acting on intelligence about drug trafficking in the area, the team intensified surveillance around Rettaikulam, near Annamalai University.
Those arrested include:
Kangi Narasimma (40) of Warangal, Andhra Pradesh
M Akash (24) and P Kirupanandan (32) of MK Thottam
M Mahesh (25) of Pallipadi
Police recovered 5 kg of ganja, three mobile phones, and a motorcycle during the bust.
According to preliminary investigations, Narasimma, Akash, and Mahesh were previously involved in another ganja case from April 2025, where 21.5 kg of ganja was seized in Annamalai Nagar.
Efforts are ongoing to locate three absconding suspects: Rahul and Gokulraj from Chidambaranathanpettai, and Cheraneethi of MK Thottam.
Police have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on drug trafficking in the region.
