Kanadia police arrested a 27-year-old man, Abaan Shakil, after seizing 5.15 grams of MD drugs worth approximately Rs 65,000 during a late-night operation on Monday. His SUV was also impounded.
According to Kanadia police station in-charge Saharsh Yadav, during routine patrolling near Phoenix Mall Road, the team noticed an SUV parked suspiciously. The driver appeared uneasy upon seeing the police and was stopped for questioning.
On inspection, the police found a transparent pouch containing a white substance, later confirmed to be MD drugs. The SUV allegedly used to transport and distribute the narcotics within the city was also seized.
A case has been registered under the NDPS Act at Kanadia police station. Senior officers stated that Shakil is being interrogated to determine the source of the drugs and identify others involved in the supply network.
