The Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested Kamran Haider, alias Zaidi, who was allegedly involved in trafficking Indian youths to fake call centres where they were forced to carry out cyber fraud activities. Haider was arrested in Hyderabad, after a chase covering over 2,500 kilometers. He had a reward of Rs2 lakh announced by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for information leading to his arrest.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Manoj C, Kamran Haider was apprehended on December 7, near Nampally Railway Station in Hyderabad, following a lengthy investigation. Haider had managed to evade arrest for months, changing locations frequently and attempting to flee to countries like Thailand and Laos to avoid capture.

The investigation began in May 2023, when Naresh Lakhavath filed a complaint after he was promised a job in Thailand and Laos by a consultancy firm called Ali International Services, which claimed to be based in Delhi. After reaching Thailand, Lakhavath’s passport was confiscated, and he was forced to work for a Chinese company engaged in cyber fraud, specifically scamming Indian citizens.

The case was transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which identified Kamran Haider, along with Sahil, Manjoor Alam, Ashish, and Pawan Yadav, as the key conspirators behind the trafficking operation.

The investigation revealed that these individuals were operating through Ali International Services, which acted as a front to lure vulnerable Indian youths. They were trafficked to the Golden Triangle region, specifically to Laos, where they were coerced into participating in cyber scams aimed at defrauding European and American citizens.
