A court in Chonburi has issued an arrest warrant for Kamonwan, 57, a close friend of a wealthy woman found brutally murdered in Rayong Province. The victim, identified as 67-year-old Wanna, was discovered on November 15, 2024, in a palm plantation in Moo 3, Pa Yup Subdistrict, Wang Chan District. Police reported that the woman’s body showed signs of blunt force trauma, a slash wound to her head, and both of her ring fingers had been severed.
The victim, who had gone missing after attending a ceremony in Sattahip, Chonburi, had been reported missing by her daughter, Wannarat Saengkaew, 35. Along with Wanna, valuable possessions, including a 5-baht gold necklace, 3-baht gold bracelet, two diamond rings, and cash, were stolen.
Police investigations revealed that Wanna was last seen getting into a white Toyota with Chonburi plates, driven by Kamonwan, who had made the last call to the victim. The car was traced to Kamonwan, a close friend of Wanna, and the investigation led to her arrest on November 16.
Kamonwan denied involvement in the crime, but police discovered scratch marks and bruising on her arms during an examination. Police are also awaiting forensic evidence, including fingerprints and DNA samples from the vehicle, to strengthen their case.
Further investigations revealed Kamonwan had lived in the Wang Chan District for years, making her familiar with the area where the body was found, adding to her possible involvement. Police are also questioning Kamonwan’s German husband, Mr. Wolf, 68, who is under suspicion for possible links to the crime.
The police are continuing to gather evidence and pursue leads in the investigation. Kamonwan has been charged with intentional homicide, and further charges could follow as the investigation progresses.
