The Shadnagar police arrested Kamal Kishore Varma, manager of a steel shop in Elikatta, on Monday, December 8, for allegedly stealing Rs 7.5 lakh from the shop.
The shop owner, Raj Kumar, had filed a complaint on December 4, stating that he had deposited Rs 7.5 lakh in the shop’s cabin the previous day and handed over the key to his staff.
The following day, the manager called Raj Kumar to report that the cash was missing, prompting the owner to involve the police.
After a detailed investigation, authorities arrested Kamal Kishore Varma, who confessed to stealing the cash. He admitted that he had obtained the cabin key with the help of a worker named Bablu to carry out the theft.
The police successfully recovered the entire stolen amount from him.
