The Kallambalam police have arrested Ameer (39), a key figure in a drug trafficking operation that smuggled narcotics from Bengaluru to Kerala. Ameer, who hails from Kuttiady in Kozhikode, was arrested after authorities seized 25 grams of MDMA from two individuals, Deepu and Anjana Krishna, who were arrested last week in Varkala while attempting to transport the drugs.
The arrest of Ameer followed an operation in response to intelligence reports about drug trafficking from Bengaluru. Authorities revealed that Ameer had multiple drug-related cases in Kozhikode, Perambra, Mattannur, and Wayanad. He had been on the run for earlier offenses and allegedly sourced drugs from Nigerian nationals.
Ameer supplied narcotics to various individuals across Kerala, including Deepu and Anjana, who were apprehended previously. Another suspect, Shan from Kallambalam, was also arrested earlier for purchasing and selling MDMA locally.
The arrests were made under the supervision of Thiruvananthapuram Rural District Police Chief K. Sudarshan, Varkala DySP Gopakumar, and Rural Narcotics Cell DySP Pradeep Kumar, with Kallambalam SHO Praiju and the DANSAF team leading the operation. Authorities plan to continue questioning the suspects to further dismantle the drug network.
