FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) — A Fargo man has been sentenced to over four years in prison following a firearms-related conviction stemming from a June 2024 incident.

Kadar Udai Pearson, 21, pleaded guilty and was sentenced on April 30 to 51 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release.

According to court documents, the case began on June 5, 2024, when Fargo Police responded to a report of shots fired at the Arbors apartment complex. Officers observed Pearson wearing a sweatshirt and pulling up a ski mask despite warm weather in the 70s. They also noticed a bulge in his sweatshirt pocket, indicating he may have been armed.

Police say Pearson entered a backyard where he did not have permission to be. When officers ordered him to stop, he fled on foot. During the chase, Pearson was seen throwing a firearm under a nearby parked vehicle—a moment captured on surveillance video.

Police recovered a loaded SIG Sauer 9 mm pistol with 10 rounds of ammunition from under the vehicle. The gun had been reported stolen in Fargo.

At the time, Pearson was on escape status from the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. He had previously been convicted in October 2023 for Possession with Intent to Deliver Fentanyl and Theft of a Firearm.

Pearson will serve his 51-month sentence in federal prison and then be placed under supervised release for three years.
