K9s Assist in Arrest of Two Suspects After Stolen Car Crash on I-395 in Killingly

18-year-olds from Worcester and Killingly apprehended after fleeing a stolen vehicle crash; a third suspect remains at large

Killingly, Connecticut – State police K9 units assisted in the arrest of two suspects who fled the scene of a stolen vehicle crash on Interstate 395 on Saturday afternoon.

Troopers responded to a motor vehicle accident around 3:30 p.m. near Exit 37 northbound, after reports that three individuals had fled into the woods. Upon arrival, officers found the vehicle 20 yards off the roadway, having struck a metal guardrail and directional sign before crashing down an embankment.

An investigation revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Worcester, Massachusetts.

With assistance from two K9 teams, police tracked and apprehended 18-year-old Cedric Tolson of Worcester and 18-year-old Jenay Busanet of Killingly. Both suspects sustained K9 bites but declined medical attention. A third suspect, believed to be a juvenile, was not located.

Charges and Court Appearances:
Both Tolson and Busanet were charged with:

Interfering with an officer

Larceny of a motor vehicle

Evading the scene of an accident

They were each issued $20,000 bonds. Tolson posted bail and is set to appear in Danielson Superior Court on April 8. Busanet remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 24.

The case remains under investigation as authorities continue searching for the third suspect.
