Barwaha police arrested three individuals, including a 16-year-old juvenile, in connection with a series of burglaries targeting unoccupied houses, recovering gold, silver, cash, and other valuables worth around Rs 90 lakh.

SP Ravindra Verma told reporters on Tuesday that Arun Sharma, a resident of Vinoba Marg, reported his home was burgled between January 26 and 29 while he was away for his mother’s medical treatment. The thieves stole three 100-gram gold bars, about 370 grams of gold ornaments, five 1-kilogram silver bars, a laptop, and clothes.

Another complaint came from Khushyal, whose construction material shop was broken into, resulting in the theft of approximately Rs 30,000.

“Following these complaints, police reviewed CCTV footage and received a tip-off identifying a 16-year-old suspect,” SP Verma said. The juvenile confessed to the thefts and named 22-year-old Harsh Prajapati and 19-year-old Divyansh Prajapati, both from Barwaha, as accomplices.

Police recovered nearly all the stolen items, including gold and silver bars, ornaments, Rs 28,550, and the scooter used in the crimes. The valuables were reportedly hidden in a heap of trash.

Barwaha SDOP Archana Rawat noted that the Sharma family, originally from New Delhi, had moved to Barwaha due to their mother’s illness and could not secure their valuables. The juvenile reportedly conducted reconnaissance before committing the thefts.

Authorities also stated that the accused had previous criminal records for theft and assault.
