Justin Zayas-Sanchez Arrested in Vermont Amid NC Statutory Rape Warrant

Man faces drug, eluding, and assault charges following Vermont arrest

Rutland City, Vt. — Justin Zayas-Sanchez, 25, was arrested June 1 in Vermont on drug charges while also wanted in North Carolina on suspicion of statutory rape.

Rutland City police took Zayas-Sanchez into custody after learning of an outstanding warrant from North Carolina related to the alleged rape of a child.

Zayas-Sanchez faces one count of selling cocaine, following an investigation by the Vermont Drug Task Force. He was previously convicted of fentanyl trafficking in federal court in July 2022 and was on supervised release at the time of this arrest.

Additionally, Vermont State Police say Zayas-Sanchez is charged with eluding police and assault on a protected professional. He is scheduled for arraignment on July 7 in Vermont Superior Court in Rutland.
