KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) — A Kearney man, Justin Hadenfeldt, has been sentenced to prison for his brutal attack on a woman in 2024. The sentencing occurred Wednesday, with Hadenfeldt receiving 20-50 years for first-degree assault, 10-20 years for assault by strangulation, and 10-20 years for burglary.
The first two sentences for assault and strangulation will be served concurrently, while the burglary sentence will be served consecutively. This means Hadenfeldt will serve the burglary sentence after completing the sentences for assault and strangulation.
Hadenfeldt was charged after a violent incident on February 14, 2024, when a woman was beaten and choked until unconscious. She was then transported by ambulance to CHI Health Good Samaritan hospital. According to a GoFundMe campaign, the woman sustained broken bones in her face and numerous bruises across her body.
Two days after the incident, Hadenfeldt was arrested following a car crash near the Alda interchange. He was treated at CHI Health St. Francis hospital in Grand Island before being transferred to the Nebraska Department of Corrections Reception and Treatment Center in Lincoln.
Hadenfeldt pled no contest to the charges in November 2024, and habitual criminal enhancements were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
