
Justin Brown, a former postal worker from Davenport, Iowa, was sentenced for stealing 487 greeting cards containing cash and gift cards. Police found the stolen cards during a home search in June 2024.
Brown pleaded guilty to felony second-degree theft in September 2024 but failed to complete his presentencing paperwork, resulting in a warrant for his arrest.
On June 11, he was sentenced to up to five years at the Iowa Department of Corrections, with credit for time served at Scott County Jail. Brown also faced drug charges and was sentenced to up to one year on each count. However, all sentences were suspended, and he was placed on three years of supervised release.
Conditions of his release include completing substance abuse and mental health evaluations and treatments, abstaining from alcohol and illegal drugs, and maintaining employment. Brown was also fined $1,025 for mail theft.
Authorities revealed that the stolen mail was sent from multiple Illinois cities, such as Geneseo, Moline, East Moline, Milan, Rock Island, and Silvis.
