Topeka, KS — The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) has arrested a Topeka man, 41-year-old Justin Bevitt, in connection with child sex crimes alleged to have occurred in Kentucky.
On the morning of Friday, August 22, KBI agents executed a search warrant at a residence in the 1900 block of SW Lane Street in Topeka. During the operation, agents served an arrest warrant issued by Kentucky State Police, who had requested KBI’s assistance just days earlier, on August 19.
Bevitt was taken into custody around 6:45 a.m. and faces the following charges:
Procuring or promoting the use of a minor
Unlawful transaction with a minor – first degree
Unlawful transaction with a minor – second degree
Distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor
According to the KBI, the charges allege that Bevitt engaged in sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl.
He was booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections, and additional charges may be filed in Kansas. The KBI has indicated that extradition to Kentucky is expected.
The investigation remains ongoing.
