A 31-year-old man from Dixon, Illinois, was arrested at the Walmart Supercenter in Peru on Monday night, facing multiple charges. Justin Balaban was taken into custody on charges of retail theft, possession of methamphetamine, and obstructing identification.

Balaban was also found to have an active warrant out of Ogle County. Peru officers transported him to the La Salle County Jail, where he is being held pending extradition for the warrant.

In another incident, a driver from Lee County was cited following a car accident in DeKalb County. On Sunday morning, deputies responded to a crash south of U.S. Highway 30 and west of Illinois Route 23. According to authorities, Robert Davis, 29, of Paw Paw, failed to navigate a curve, causing his vehicle to roll multiple times. Davis fled the scene but was later identified as the driver. He sustained minor injuries and was ticketed for improper lane usage and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage.
