Julie Bush, 31, was sentenced to a minimum of 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the death of her boyfriend, Richard Penardo Jr., 51. The sentencing took place on June 17 in Nevada, where Bush was also charged with driving under the influence.
According to court records and police reports, the incident began when Bush discovered another woman’s tampon in Penardo’s trash. Confronting him, Bush got into her car while Penardo allegedly struck the vehicle’s windows with a steel chain, shattering the glass. In response, Bush accelerated, hitting Penardo and throwing him into a brick wall.
Penardo succumbed to his injuries a day later. During her March plea hearing, Bush apologized for the incident and expressed that she loved Penardo very much.
The judge handed down a prison term ranging from 12 to 35 years for Bush’s voluntary manslaughter conviction.
