by Sophia Bennett

RIGGINS, ID — On July 25, 2025, at about 8:06 p.m., an Idaho County Deputy stopped a dirt bike in the Riggins area during an Office of Highway Safety emphasis patrol. The bike reportedly lacked a license plate and the rider failed to signal while turning onto Highway 95.

During the stop, the rider gave false identification but was later identified as 46-year-old Joshua Sorensen. Authorities arrested Sorensen on multiple charges, including felony unlawful possession of a firearm, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a misdemeanor warrant out of Valley County.

The sheriff’s office reminds the public that charges are accusations, and Sorensen is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
