Four men, including one with alleged ties to the Montreal Mafia, were arrested on March 19, 2025, following a police operation in Montreal. Authorities seized at least one firearm during the arrests.
Among those detained were Pietro D’Adamo, 54, of Île-Perrot; Lawrence Cooney, 56, of Verdun, a man previously linked to the West End Gang; Joshua Sarroino, 31, of LaSalle; and Giuseppe Richichi, 65, also of LaSalle.
According to reports, the arrests took place when a Montreal police SWAT team stopped an SUV carrying the suspects.
All four men appeared before a judge at the Montreal courthouse the following day. The Crown opposed their release, and they remain in custody pending their next court appearance. They face charges for possessing a prohibited Glock 43 firearm and carrying a loaded firearm without a license.

Joshua Sarroino faces further charges for violating bail conditions related to a 2023 case in which he was accused but later acquitted of murder.
Pietro D’Adamo is also charged with possession of proceeds of crime.

Pietro D’Adamo has a history of criminal activity dating back decades:
In 1999, he pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the beating death of Michael Pugliese and was sentenced to 33 months in prison.
In 2006, he was arrested during Project Colisée, a major investigation into the Rizzuto crime family. He later pleaded guilty to conspiracy and gangsterism for his role in smuggling 1,300 kilograms of cocaine into Canada and received a six-year prison sentence.
The investigation into the latest arrests remains ongoing.
