WALDO COUNTY — On Thursday morning around 9:30, the Augusta Regional Communications Center received a 911 call from a woman reporting an assault by her boyfriend at their residence on S Main Street, Winterport.
The woman informed dispatchers she was barricaded in a bathroom with her 9-year-old son, stating her boyfriend was under the influence of drugs and had access to firearms. She was eventually able to leave the home safely with her son.
Authorities confirmed the child was unharmed, while the woman sustained minor injuries. Multiple attempts were made by Maine State Police to contact the suspect, initially without success.
The man, identified as 43-year-old Joshua Martin of S Main Street, later exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident.
Martin has been charged with domestic violence assault, creating a police standoff, and violating conditions of release. He was transported to Waldo County Jail, where he remains held pending further legal action.
