Joshua Lanchester, a 23-year-old man from New Hampshire, has been indicted by a Grafton County Grand Jury on one count of reckless second-degree murder in connection with the death of his grandmother, 76-year-old Cynthia Lanchester.
On September 28, 2024, authorities were called to a residence on North Peak Drive in Easton after receiving reports of a suspicious death. Upon arrival, investigators found Cynthia Lanchester’s body. The investigation quickly led to the arrest of her grandson, Joshua Lanchester, who allegedly caused her death by striking her in the head with a hammer.
An autopsy performed by Associate Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Abigail Alexander confirmed blunt force trauma as the cause of death, which was officially classified as a homicide.
Currently, Joshua Lanchester is being held without bail as he awaits further court proceedings. His arraignment is scheduled for the 2nd Circuit Court – District Division in Littleton.
Attorney General John M. Formella emphasized that while charges have been filed, Joshua Lanchester is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Authorities have confirmed that there is no ongoing public threat associated with the incident, but the investigation remains open, with further details to be released as the case progresses.
