DE SOTO, MO — A Festus man, Joshua Dyle, 47, is facing felony charges after allegedly stealing a car he had sold to a woman in De Soto.
According to Jefferson County court records, Dyle sold a 2006 Hyundai Elantra to the woman for $800, but later took the car back, claiming she never paid. The woman told police she paid in full and signed the title with Dyle, although he left with the title after the transaction.
A witness confirmed the sale and payment, and also told police Dyle later said he planned to file for a lost title and resell the vehicle.
Dyle was arrested on July 17, 2025, and charged with felony stealing, a Class D felony. However, prosecutors are seeking to elevate the charge to Class C, citing Dyle’s status as a persistent offender with two prior felony convictions: second-degree assault (2001) and drug possession (2013).
He remains in the Jefferson County Jail with a $7,500 bond.
