PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. – A domestic dispute in Prince Frederick led to the arrest of Joseph Jerome Young, 40, on January 4, 2025, after authorities discovered cocaine in his possession.
The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from Young’s mother, Mary Thomas, who reported that her son was acting erratically and appeared to be under the influence of PCP. During their argument, Thomas alleged that Young had pushed her twice, although she was not injured. She also mentioned seeing a powdery substance, which she suspected to be drugs.
Upon arriving at the scene, deputies spoke with Young, who denied assaulting his mother but agreed to a search of his shorts. Officers found multiple small white rocks in his pocket, later confirmed to be cocaine, as well as a dollar bill with trace amounts of the same substance. Additional drug paraphernalia was also discovered in his bedroom.
After being read his Miranda rights, Young admitted to possessing cocaine during an interview with a detective. He was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
Young was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled for a court appearance in Calvert County District Court on February 24, 2025. The case remains open for further investigation.
