Joseph Javier Muniz Arrested in Pflugerville Shooting

Man charged with murder after early morning altercation

PFLUGERVILLE, Texas — Authorities have arrested a man in connection with a fatal shooting that left another man dead at a Pflugerville residence early Friday morning.

The incident occurred around 2:34 a.m. in the 2500 block of Forgetmenot Lane, according to the Travis County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO). Deputies responded to a 911 call in which the caller reported shooting a friend who had been visiting his home following an altercation.

When deputies arrived, they found a man in his 30s suffering from serious injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:49 a.m.

Later Friday morning, investigators arrested 36-year-old Joseph Javier Muniz. He was transported to the Travis County Jail without incident, booked at 6:29 a.m., and charged with murder, authorities said.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released. Officials said the name will be made public after positive identification by the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office and notification of next of kin.
