Joseph Wayne Holden, 54, of Aynor, South Carolina, was arrested on Friday for his involvement in the theft of five Odyssey putters valued at over $1,500 from Burning Ridge Golf Club. He faces charges of conspiracy and second-degree assault and battery.

According to the police report, Holden allegedly drove a 2005 Ford F-150 while accomplices took the putters from the golf course’s pro shop. After the theft, a bystander attempted to block Holden’s escape by standing in front of the truck. Holden revved the engine, trying to make the bystander move, but the individual reached through the window and punched Holden. In response, Holden reportedly drove off, dragging the bystander around the parking lot, who later let go fearing for their safety. The bystander suffered a minor elbow injury during the incident.

The authorities used security footage to trace the truck to Georgetown County, where Holden was eventually pulled over and arrested later that afternoon. He was taken to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center and released on a $5,000 bond. One other suspect is still wanted in connection with the incident.
