A New Hampshire man, Joseph Ferlazzo, has been found guilty of murdering his wife, Emily Ferlazzo, during their one-year wedding anniversary trip to Vermont in October 2021.
The tragic events unfolded when Emily’s family reported her missing after Joseph returned from the trip alone, claiming that Emily had left following an argument. However, Joseph later confessed to shooting Emily twice following a dispute and subsequently dismembering her body. Her remains were discovered in the bathroom of the couple’s camper van.
During the trial, Joseph testified and claimed that the shooting was in self-defense. According to an affidavit obtained by NBC Boston, Emily’s mother told investigators there had been a history of domestic violence in their marriage.
In 2023, Joseph was ordered to pay $1.5 million to Emily’s family in a wrongful death lawsuit. He now faces a minimum sentence of 35 years in prison, with a potential maximum of life imprisonment. The sentencing date has not yet been scheduled.
