KINGS COUNTY, Calif. (FOX26) — A Kings County man, Joseph Marrio Alcala, has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for a 2016 murder.

Deputies were called to the scene in 2016 after reports of a deceased person. Upon arrival, they found Alcala acting unusually, with blood on his clothing, alongside the body of a woman later identified as Debra Jessep.

Alcala was arrested and charged with homicide. After multiple delays in the court process, his jury trial finally began in January 2026, culminating in his life sentence.
