Bristol Man Arrested After Stolen SUV Found in Southington Target Lot
SOUTHINGTON, CT — A Bristol man is facing multiple charges after police discovered a stolen Ford Expedition abandoned in a Target parking lot on Executive Boulevard South.
Jose Torres, 36, was arrested Monday after Southington Police were alerted to the presence of the stolen vehicle in the area around 5:50 p.m. Officers quickly responded and found the SUV unoccupied at the south side of the Target lot.
An investigation revealed Torres had arrived at the store in the stolen vehicle along with another adult and two juveniles. As officers arrived, the group reportedly exited the store and began walking away from the lot.
Torres was located shortly after, walking behind HomeGoods on Executive Boulevard South, and taken into custody without incident.
He now faces two counts each of second-degree reckless endangerment and risk of injury to a minor, along with one count each of motor vehicle theft, second-degree larceny, and interfering with an officer. His bond was set at $250,000.
Further investigation revealed seven active arrest warrants for Torres, leading to an additional $215,000 bond.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the second adult or provided details on the juveniles involved.
