LONGVIEW, Texas – A twice-deported Mexican national residing illegally in Longview has been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison for drug trafficking, according to Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.
Jose Mercedes Saucedo-Guerrero, 34, received a 168-month sentence from U.S. District Judge Jeremy D. Kernodle on June 23, 2025. The sentencing follows a traffic stop that occurred on May 2, 2024, in Kilgore, Texas.
During the stop, officers conducted an open-air K9 sniff of Saucedo-Guerrero’s vehicle. The canine unit alerted officers to the presence of narcotics. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed 2,972 grams of methamphetamine hidden inside.
Saucedo-Guerrero’s case was prosecuted in the Eastern District of Texas. He had previously been deported from the United States on two occasions before returning illegally.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about drug trafficking and border enforcement, with officials emphasizing the danger posed by repeat offenders trafficking large quantities of controlled substances.
