SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) — New video footage shows the arrest of 40-year-old Jose Nava at a Speedway gas station in Santa Fe after police say he threatened someone with a handgun.

Officers responded Saturday to a report of a man threatening another individual at the Speedway located on Siler Road and Agua Fria Street. The victim described how a white truck and a blue Dodge arrived at the gas station. According to police, the man in the white truck exited holding a pipe and began threatening the victim.

The victim raised his hands, signaling he didn’t want trouble. Moments later, police believe Jose Nava, the man in the blue Dodge, drew a handgun and pointed it at the victim. When asked what Nava wanted, he told the victim to get in his vehicle and leave, which the victim complied with, providing police the blue truck’s license plate and noting a female passenger inside.

During Nava’s arrest, officers reminded him of an outstanding warrant. A search warrant was also executed at the Speedway, with the assistance of a police K-9, who quickly located the handgun inside a box of chips.

Authorities found two handguns and a shotgun in Nava’s truck. He was booked on charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, tampering with evidence, and an active warrant for failure to appear in a domestic violence case.
