by Sophia Bennett

A 44-year-old Sioux Center man was arrested on Friday, March 14, after being charged with multiple counts of election misconduct, including registration fraud and vote fraud.

The arrest of Jose Lozano Munoz stemmed from actions in Sioux County, where he was accused of submitting a false or fraudulent voter registration application on March 1, 2022. In addition, Munoz is charged with voting or attempting to vote in elections on March 1, 2022, and March 7, 2023, knowing he was not qualified to vote. These offenses were uncovered following an investigation led by the Iowa Attorney General’s Office.

Court documents filed in Sioux County District Court indicate that Munoz’s actions violated election laws, leading to the charges against him.
