Jorge Ortega Arrested for Deadly College Park Stabbing

Suspect charged with malice murder after stabbing death

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. — Jorge Ortega was arrested Saturday evening for a deadly stabbing that occurred earlier that day on Southampton Road in College Park, according to the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office.

Police responded to emergency calls reporting a stabbing in the 1800 block of Southampton Road on July 26. Officers found the victim lying in the grass with a stab wound to the chest. The victim was rushed to the hospital but later died from their injuries.

Detectives quickly identified Ortega as the suspect and charged him with malice murder. Authorities issued a warrant and coordinated with law enforcement in Gwinnett County, where Ortega was located.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., Ortega was arrested by deputies and booked into the Clayton County Jail.

The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to all agencies involved for the swift arrest, which took place within eight hours of the stabbing.
