KNOXVILLE, Iowa – A Knoxville man is facing multiple felony charges after authorities connected him to a cabin burglary, possession of a stolen firearm, and methamphetamine in separate incidents.
According to court documents, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported burglary in progress around 10:00 p.m. on June 8 at a rural Knoxville residence. Deputies discovered that forced entry had been made into a cabin, with $20 cash stolen from an envelope on the table.
Surveillance footage showed a green Pontiac Grand Prix making multiple stops on the property. On the final visit, the vehicle dropped off a male subject who walked toward the cabin. The vehicle was traced back to a woman who later identified Jordan Swank as the man she drove to the location. Video evidence allegedly matched Swank’s appearance and showed him fleeing the scene when the property owner arrived.
Swank’s troubles didn’t end there.
On July 6, deputies were called to a separate Knoxville address for a dispute over a stolen gun. Swank reportedly told law enforcement he purchased the AR-style rifle from an acquaintance at Casey’s gas station in late June. Swank admitted to buying and keeping the firearm, despite being a convicted felon.
During a consensual search of the residence, deputies found drug paraphernalia and a baggie of crystalline substance next to Swank’s bed. Though Swank claimed the substance was “salt,” field testing confirmed it was methamphetamine. He has two or more prior convictions for possession of controlled substances.
Swank is now charged with:
Third-degree burglary
Control of a firearm by a felon
Possession of a controlled substance (third or subsequent offense)
He is being held in Marion County and awaits further court proceedings.
