TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (CBS12) – A Colombian national, Jonny Pinzon Rios, has been convicted for his role in a $1.6 million residential Rolex burglary ring operating across multiple counties in Florida, the Office of Attorney General James Uthmeier announced Friday.
Rios, who was living in the U.S. illegally, was found guilty of:
Conspiracy to commit racketeering (RICO)
Two counts of dealing in stolen property
The conviction stems from an investigation into a multi-county theft ring allegedly made up of illegal immigrants who targeted homes to steal and resell high-end Rolex watches and other valuables.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the burglaries took place in:
Polk
Hillsborough
Pasco
Pinellas
Collier counties
Authorities say the theft ring netted over $1.6 million in stolen goods.
“We do not tolerate theft in Florida,” said Attorney General James Uthmeier. “We will continue to work with the Trump administration to get these criminals out of our state and nation.”
Rios is currently awaiting deportation, and he now faces up to 60 years in prison.
The case reflects Florida’s continued crackdown on organized crime rings, particularly those involving undocumented individuals operating across county lines.
