JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) — Police have arrested Jonesboro resident Justin Paul Hall after he allegedly forged customer checks and deposited them into his personal bank account.
On April 14, authorities received a complaint from a local business reporting theft by Hall, who was an employee at the company.
According to the victim, customers would write checks with the amount filled in but leave the payee line blank when purchasing items or services. After completing the work, customers authorized the business to deposit the checks.
However, Hall reportedly wrote his own name on the payee line, dated the checks, and deposited the funds into his personal account.
Multiple altered checks bearing Hall’s name and signature were collected by officers, demonstrating that Hall intentionally diverted money meant for the business.
Police say Hall stole a total of $62,700.55 through this scheme.
A warrant for Hall’s arrest was issued on September 12 by Craighead County District Judge David Boling. He was arrested on September 22 at 11:42 a.m.
Special Judge Ralph Wilson has found probable cause to charge Hall with theft of $25,000 or more and second-degree forgery.
Hall was released on a $65,000 cash or surety bond on September 24 and is scheduled to be arraigned on October 30.
