Jonathon Vega Arrested for Felony Theft at Pilot Travel Center

A 21-year-old Cheyenne man, Jonathon Vega, was arrested and charged with felony theft after allegedly stealing more than $1,000 from the Pilot Travel Center on Aug. 21.

Police responded around 1:45 p.m. to a reported larceny at the Pilot Travel Center located at 8020 Campstool Rd. Upon arrival, officers contacted Vega, who admitted to taking money from the business.

Vega was booked into the Laramie County Detention Center and faces felony theft charges, which carry penalties of up to 10 years in prison, a fine up to $10,000, or both.

The following day, Vega appeared before Judge Sean C. Chambers in Laramie County Circuit Court. Vega was assigned a public defender, and the state requested a bond of $1,000, noting Vega had no prior criminal history.

Judge Chambers set the bond at $1,000 at 10%, which Vega posted. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 29, at 9:45 a.m.
