SAN BENITO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A man has been arrested in connection with multiple package thefts in San Benito after a doorbell camera video of the crime gained attention on social media.
Jonathan Rangel Meza was taken into custody on Wednesday and charged with mail theft. Police launched their investigation last week after video footage surfaced showing a person exiting a vehicle and stealing a package from a front porch in broad daylight.
Authorities believe Meza is the individual seen in the video. He was located at a home in Santa Rosa, where police say he was found hiding in the attic during the arrest.
Meza is currently being held at the San Benito Police Department as he awaits arraignment. Officials say the investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be considered.
