Jonathan Britton Arrested in Joliet Shooting at Riverwalk Homes

Chicago man charged with multiple weapons and firearm offenses

JOLIET, IL — A 32-year-old Chicago man, Jonathan Britton, has been arrested and charged in connection with a June 12 shooting at Riverwalk Homes in Joliet, according to the Will County Sheriff’s Office.

Britton, who sustained a gunshot wound during the incident, was identified by detectives as one of the suspects involved in the shooting. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and released on June 13, 2025. He was then transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.

Following a review by the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office, Britton has been formally charged with:

Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon

Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon

Reckless Discharge of a Firearm

Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm

Possession of Ammunition by a Felon

Armed Habitual Criminal

Authorities allege Britton fired a weapon during the shooting, which led to his injury and subsequent arrest.

Another suspect—a 30-year-old male—was also injured in the incident and remains hospitalized under police guard. Further updates regarding his identity and charges are expected as the investigation continues.
