GASTONIA, N.C. (August 26, 2025) — The Gaston County Police Department is investigating a case of sexual assault involving a minor, which has led to several serious charges.
According to authorities, Jon Derek Pittman, 45, of Gastonia, has been charged with the following offenses:
Two counts of Statutory Rape of a Child Under 15
Two counts of Statutory Rape of a Child by an Adult
Pittman was taken into custody on August 24 by the Gaston County Police FAST (Fugitive Apprehension and Suspect Tracking) Team. He is currently being held in the Gaston County Jail under a $750,000 secured bond.
Due to the sensitive nature of the investigation and the involvement of a minor, police have stated that no further information will be released at this time.
