DURHAM — A Duke University nurse already charged with sexually assaulting two incapacitated patients has been accused of assaulting a third patient, court records show.
Jomil Uy Tugado, 39, of Durham, was charged Dec. 19 with:
Two counts of misdemeanor sexual battery
Two counts of sexual contact or penetration under medical treatment
Two counts of sex act by a government or private institution employee
The alleged assaults occurred on May 30 and Dec. 6, according to arrest warrants. A third warrant accuses Tugado of assaulting another incapacitated patient on May 23.
Following the new charges, Tugado’s nursing license was suspended on Thursday, state records indicate. Duke Health confirmed Tugado had been placed on administrative leave on Dec. 7, according to ABC11, reporting with The News & Observer.
Duke University police are continuing their investigation into the incidents.
