John Teardo Arrested for Armed Robbery at Waterbury Convenience Store

Man charged with first-degree robbery after holding up Sam’s Deli at gunpoint

WATERBURY, Conn. — John Teardo, 32, was arrested for allegedly robbing a local convenience store at gunpoint on Saturday night.

Police say Teardo entered Sam’s Deli on Highland Avenue around 7:45 p.m. armed with a handgun. He demanded the clerk empty the cash register while brandishing the weapon. By the time officers arrived, Teardo had fled the scene.

No injuries were reported during the incident.

Following the robbery, detectives obtained search warrants for Teardo and his residence. He was later taken into custody and charged with first-degree robbery.

Teardo is currently held on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, according to police.
