John Silsby Arrested With 1,200 Pounds of Drugs in U-Haul Bust

Suspect caught on I-80 transporting drugs from California to North Carolina

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A massive drug bust unfolded on I-80 when Lancaster County Sheriff’s deputies pulled over a U-Haul truck carrying more than 1,200 pounds of narcotics on Friday afternoon.

According to authorities, a deputy stopped the vehicle near mile marker 403 around 12:05 p.m. The driver, 41-year-old John Silsby, exhibited suspicious behavior, prompting further investigation.

Weapons Discovered
During a pat-down search, officers found three knives and a revolver on Silsby. Upon searching the U-Haul, deputies uncovered four firearms inside the vehicle.

Massive Drug Seizure
Authorities found an enormous cache of narcotics in the cargo area of the truck, including:

1,129 pounds of marijuana
One pound of concentrated leaf marijuana
Three pounds of psilocybin mushrooms
133 pounds of various THC concentrate
3,600 mg of THC gummies
$1,116 in cash
Charges and Court Date
Silsby was arrested on multiple felony charges, including:

Delivery and distribution of a controlled substance
Possession of a firearm while committing a felony
Possession of money while violating controlled substance laws
During questioning, Silsby admitted he was transporting drugs from California to North Carolina.

His bond was set at 10% of $80,000, and his next court appearance is scheduled for April 7.
