VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Two men have been formally charged in connection with a fatal bar fight that took place at Coastal Cafe on March 1, according to the Virginia Beach Police Department.

Authorities say officers were called to the bar around 8:45 p.m., where they discovered Jamie Bills, 51, unresponsive. Bills was transported to a local hospital but later died from his injuries.

Following an investigation, police identified John Round III, 60, and Sridaharan Sangaran, 55, as suspects in the deadly altercation.

John Round III faces charges of involuntary manslaughter and assault and battery.

Sridaharan Sangaran is charged with malicious wounding, attempted malicious wounding, and two counts of assault and battery.

The incident had a profound impact on the community and the business itself. Shortly after the fatal confrontation, Coastal Cafe owner Barrie Engel permanently closed the establishment’s doors in March.
