CAPE CORAL, Fla. — John Joseph Adams, 41, was arrested after Cape Coral police linked him to multiple thefts at Walmart and Target stores.
On August 27, officers responded to a reported theft at the Walmart Supercenter on Del Prado Blvd. South. A Walmart loss prevention investigator said Adams attempted to push a cart full of unpaid merchandise past checkout but abandoned it and fled when confronted. The stolen items, valued at $1,140.64 before tax, included a $419 sewing machine and a Cricut Maker 3 worth $349.
Although Adams was not initially found, police reviewed surveillance footage showing a heavily tattooed man wearing a teal hat. They later identified him through facial recognition and a photo lineup. Distinctive tattoos like “Ridin’ Dirty” on his neck and “Rachel” below his lip helped confirm his identity.
Further investigation linked Adams to a prior theft at a Walmart in Estero and additional thefts at a Target on NE Pine Island Road, where he allegedly stole $809.97 worth of items such as Ninja cookware and a KitchenAid mixer.
Adams was arrested on September 6 by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office in connection with the Estero theft. He is currently held at the Lee County Jail and charged with two counts of grand theft, both third-degree felonies.
